Graveside funeral service for Nina Cummings, 80, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be at 10:00am, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.  Viewing will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Nina was born the daughter of Gilbert and Irene House on February 21, 1941 in Los Angeles, California.  She died on December 30, 2021 at home in Chickasha.

Nina went to school in Bakersfield, California but had to drop out in the 7th grade to help her mom with the kids at home–six sisters and seven brothers.  Nina had to pick and hoe cotton as well as picking all kinds of fruit just to make some money to help her mom and dad.  In 1963 she moved to Oklahoma where she met Edward Cummings.  The two were married in October, 1963.  Edward went into the army until he broke his back.  Nina worked at Delta Faucet in the 1970’s and then as a Certified Nurse’s Aide until she retired.  She was a very good mother and a very good friend to a lot of people.  She will be dearly missed by everyone.

Nina was preceded in death by her husband Edward Dwayne Cummings; her daughter Tina Louise Cummings and her parents Gilbert and Irene House.

Nina is survived by her sons Eddie Wayne Cummings and Terry Lee Cummings; grandchildren Tasha Nicole Prokop, Tabitha Louise Cummings, Jed Paul Cummings, Adam Lynn Cummings, Roy Lee Cummings, Casey Wayne Merritt, Kendra Renee Moore and Tamra Lynn Cummings; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.
