Authority and Power
In Luke chapter 10, Jesus sent 70 disciples out, two by two, to go before Him to cities that Jesus Himself would come. They came back to Jesus full of Joy that even devils (demons) were subject unto them through His name. Jesus said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy!”
Notice that the word “POWER” is used twice in this scripture, but in the original Greek transcript they do not mean the same thing. In the first example, the Greek word translated to POWER, actually means “authority”. So what Jesus really meant was, “Look!! I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions (all manner of evil spirits). In the second example, the word POWER comes from the Greek word dutamas, which is the root word we use for the word dynamite!!! Now that’s real POWER!!!
What does all this mean to you?? As a born again Christian with God living inside you, YOU also have the authority and the power to stop the enemy in his tracks. We don’t have to allow the devil to walk all over us and come against us to steal, kill, and destroy us and our family. In the name of Jesus, you have the authority to raise your hand and tell the Devil to STOP!!! And don’t come any closer to you and your family!! Just remember the POWER to do this lies in the one who lives inside you!! It’s not your power that you have to depend on, it’s the power of the Lord, Jesus Christ!! You have the authority over evil spirits and Jesus has the POWER to back you up. The Devil is not afraid of your authority, but He is sure afraid of the power available to you through the name of Jesus!!!
Blessings in His Word, Love, and POWER!!!!
