Marla Jean Howell


Funeral service for Marla Jean Howell of Chickasha were held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Bible Baptist Church.  Brother Kim Hayes will officiate.

Marla Jean Howell, 65, went home to be with the Lord on November 12, 2021.  She was born August 5, 1956 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Rosie and Helen Ambrose. 
 
Marla graduated from Yukon High School in 1974.

On March 30th of 1973 Marla was married to the love of her life Kenny Howell.  They shared 48 years of life, marriage, and memories together. Marla and Kenny spent their entire marriage sharing the love and hope of Jesus to those around them.

Marla and Kenny moved to Chickasha in 1976, with their son Kenny. In 1978 Marla opened Marla’s Shoe Bizarre then later went to work part time for the family businesses Ambrose Construction and H&H Siding while being a stay at home mom.  In 1995 she went to work for Dwight A. Sehon Accounting handling the bookkeeping and continued her career there until 2000.  In 2000 Marla found her true passion for real estate and began her career as a realtor.  She had a true gift for helping people and helping her clients find their forever home.  Marla’s work ethic was second to none and she worked tirelessly to make sure all the small details were covered. Through real estate she shared the miracles that had been worked in her life and the hope she had in Jesus Christ. Marla was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.

Marla enjoyed watching her grandkids grow and attending as many of their activities as she possible could. Her most prized possession was her family and grandchildren. 

Marla was preceded in death by her father James(Rosie) Ambrose and father-n-law Jim Howell.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Kenny Howell of Chickasha; son Kenny Howell Jr. and wife Melissa of Denton, TX; daughter Deah Surber and husband Matt of Tuttle OK; grandson Luke Surber; granddaughters Madi Surber and Emma Howell; brother Jimmy Ambrose and wife Barbara of Lone Wolf, OK; mother Helen Ambrose of Chickasha; mother-n-law Ina Howell of Chickasha; brother-n-law Danny Howell and wife Susie of Chickasha; brother-n-law Jimmy Howell and wife Tammy of Chickasha; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for the outpouring love and compassion during this time. 

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.  Services are under direction of McRay Funeral Home.
