Your Best Protection is Early Detection!
The power of pink is everywhere this October as we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This yearly event is more than just a way to raise funds for breast cancer research. It helps to increase awareness for the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women. Every year in the United States, about 250,000 women and men are diagnosed with breast cancer.
While breast cancer can’t be prevented, it CAN be detected at its most curable stage. 3D mammography finds 20-65% more invasive breast cancers and reduces callbacks up to 40%. 3D mammography is clinically superior and requires no additional compression.
When Do I Need an Exam?
Women age 40 and older should have mammograms every year. Talk with your doctor about your chances of getting breast cancer. Your doctor can help you decide when you should start having mammograms and how often you should have them. Early detection is the key.
Reasons to Get Screened
- 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime
- 8 out of 9 women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history
- With early detection, the five-year survival rate is almost 100%
Please call Grady Memorial Hospital’s Women’s Imaging Center (405-779-2133) to schedule your mammogram. We offer superior imaging with 3D technology. Do not be fooled—a 2D or mobile mammogram is not equivalent. Also, Medicare and most insurance companies cover the entire cost of screening mammograms.
