Paul Timothy Markham


Funeral service for Corporal Paul Markham, 46, of Rush Springs, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday October 22, 2019 at Bible Baptist Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma.  Brother Kim Hayes will officiate.

Paul Timothy Markham was born the son of Edward Raymond Markham and Louise Mae Small Markham on May 24, 1973 in Exeter, New Hampshire.  He died on October 18, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Paul, a minister’s son, was a homeschool graduate of Lindenwood Academy High School in Arkansas.  He attended Maine Criminal Justice Academy before beginning his Law Enforcement career at the York County Maine Sheriff’s Department.  He married the love of his life, Dawn in February, 1995 in Berwick, Maine.  He attended Berean Bible Academy and served in Christian Ministry for 14 years while concurrently serving as a Law Enforcement Officer. After moving to Rush Springs, Paul served on the Rush Springs Police Department, beginning as a Patrol Officer and rising to the rank of Chief of Police where he continued serving the community for another 3 ½ years.  He joined the Grady County Sheriff’s Office in 2014 where he rose to the rank of Corporal.  He was a Field Training Officer for the Sheriff’s Office, sharing his common sense and wisdom, helping to prepare new Deputies for service.  Paul was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, camp, shoot and occasionally hike.  His family was of the utmost importance to him and he was a true and loyal friend.  Paul is widely known for his contagious smile and will be remembered for his cracking wise.

Paul was preceded in death by his father Edward Raymond Markham, Sr. and his brother Edward Raymond Markham, Jr.

Paul is survived by his wife Dawn Markham; son Kaleb Markham; daughter Christina Markham; mother Louise Markham; sister Roxanne Markham; one niece; one nephew; one great-niece and one great-nephew.

Interment will be in the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs.  Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
