Disrespect or Honor?

It seems to me that I spend a lot of time thinking and talking about two things: the words we speak and the choices that we make.  Both are extremely critical to the kind of life we should be living.  Some would say these things are controlled by our attitude and frame of mind, but they are actually controlled by our free will and whether we are walking in the Spirit of God or in the spirit of Satan.

The Bible tells us that the right choice to make is to honor God, honor our parents, and to honor one another, and this of course can only occur when we are being obedient to the Spirit of God.  On the other hand, the wrong choice is to disrespect God, disrespect our parents, and disrespect one another, and these things are manifested in our life when we are walking and living in the spirit of the evil one and being disrespectful and disobedient to the Spirit of God.

As Christians, we should choose the right choice and stop being so disrespectful to one another.  It’s time that we follow the spirit of sweet reasonableness which is called in the Bible, the fruit of the Spirit of moderation. Is it not possible to disagree with someone and still be respectful?  Only if we make the right choices and choose the right words.  When someone disrespects your children, they are disrespecting you. Correct?  Well, that’s exactly the way God feels when we disrespect His children.  If you will take the time and really look at the fierce disrespect that goes on in the world of “social media”, I think you will see how far the act of disrespect has come, and it will only get worse if you and I don’t start showing some honor and start being part of the solution instead of fanning the flames of disrespect.
