OBITUARIES

Susan Kay Clark

Susan Kay Clark passed into the hands of God on August 23, 2021. Susan was born in Midwest City, Oklahoma on March 7, 1956 to John and Norma Hayes.
Susan grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and at fifteen, her family moved back to Oklahoma. She graduated from Chickasha High school in 1973 and went on to get her Bachelor’s in Education from USAO in 1977 and after, became a special education teacher. Susan taught at Friend School in Chickasha for three years and afterwards, homeschooled her children.
On June 9, 1979, she married James Paul Clark. Together they raised two daughters, Stephanie and Julie, and a son, Jonathan.
Susan had a passion for God and attended First Baptist Church for twenty-five years before moving to Son Rise Baptist Church. She loved to give back to her community and dedicated her life to her family and helping others. She and her husband were foster parents to many babies, were certified NICU baby cuddlers, and served on the Oklahoma Baptist disaster response team. We will forever remember her preparing the best Thanksgiving hams, calling to warn family every time bad weather came in, beating up all the little boys in the neighborhood when she was younger, making the best gumbo this side of the Mississippi, but most of all she taught us how to love and serve people. She loved to play games with her husband, family, and friends, and especially liked to play Golf and Hand & Foot.
Susan was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Her spirit is carried on by her husband of forty-two years, Jim; her daughters, Stephanie Jones & her husband Brandon, Julie Moore and her husband Jacob; her son Jonathan Clark and his wife Cass; her seven grandchildren, her brothers, Steven Hayes & his wife Susan, Jeff Hayes & his wife Susan; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. We will never have the words to adequately portray the love her family and friends and her God have for her. Susan will be incredibly missed by her family every day, and every minute of their lives.
