Peggy Jo Potts Crutcher


Peggy Jo Potts Crutcher was born December 25, 1934 to Henry Emmit Potts and Ida Florence Woods Potts. She went to be with her Lord and Savior and her beloved “Bob” on August 18, 2021 at the age of 86. Graveside service will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Duncan Cemetery at 2:00 pm.

Peggy grew up in the Bray-Marlow area and graduated from Bray High School. At an early age, Peggy was very much the go-getter and always worked on gaining more knowledge of everything she pursued. She went to beauty school and became an accomplished beautician. She owned and operated Chickasha Beauty School for many years, as well as her own Beauty Shop. She created her own line of cosmetics early on in her life as well as writing a book about hair-color techniques. In 1954, she married Barney Hackney, Jr. in Olympia, Washington. They had two children together; Jami D’Ann Hackney and Mark Duane Hackney. She opened her first retail store, Jamar Fashions in McAlister, Oklahoma then branched out to H & H Fashions in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. She also owned Fads and Fashion in Chickasha, Oklahoma. After the death of her first husband, she married Bob Crutcher on January 11, 1980 in Hawaii. To this marriage, Peggy gained three more children. Rebecca Crutcher Pope, Mark Crutcher, and Tammy Crutcher Tibbetts, all which she considered her own. With Bob already in retail, they continued to happily work together to operate their respective businesses until their retirement in 1994. After several years of traveling to Gunnison Colorado, and fishing at Pine Creek in eastern Oklahoma, Peggy was ready to come out of retirement and began a new career in Real Estate. After several years with Kay’s Real Estate, she obtained her brokers license and operated her own real estate office for several more years. Peggy J was a wonderful cook and made the best homemade biscuits and milkshakes.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Barney Hackney, Jr.; second husband, Bob Crutcher; son, Mark Hackney; daughter, Rebecca Pope; brother, Truman Potts; sisters, Lillian Potts Huddleston and Ruthie Potts Groat.

She is survived by daughters Jami Hackney and partner Tonnia Anderson of Chickasha; Tammy Tibbetts and spouse Geary of Duncan; son, Mark Crutcher and spouse Tana of Duncan. Grandchildren Amanda Hackney Stapp, Bryan Pope, Dustin Pope, Kristen Tibbetts Eden, Leah Crutcher Ashworth, Kacy Tibbetts, Megan Hackney, Sarah Bruno and Joel Ryan. Sixteen great-grandchildren. Wyatt and Codi Stapp; Jerrett, Jocelyn and Benjamin Pope; Ethan and Madison Eden; Emelia, Wyatt, Brock and Nathan Ashworth; Amiya Tibbetts; Malayna and Diego Olvera; Mia and Julian Ryan. Brother and Sister in law, Frank and Irma Potts and several nieces and nephews. Peggy loved her family. She also considered her longtime caregiver, Claudia Ochoa, family as well. The family is very thankful for her taking such good care of both Peggy and Bob. We will miss you !Peggy J.”
