Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Sevier Funeral Home Chapel, Chickasha, Oklahoma. Interment will be at the Hale cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Merwin Jesse Turner, of Alex, OK, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in Alex, OK at the age of 68. He was born December 20, 1952 in Paducah, Kentucky to Muncie Turner and Cleo (Owen) Turner.

Merwin lived in several towns in Texas, Indiana, and Arkansas. He worked in construction and pipeline in numerous states and settled in Oklahoma and married Beth Shurbet on June 3, 1988. Merwin retired from working in 2015 at the age 62.

He enjoyed fishing, John Wayne movies, his grandkids, nieces, and nephews. He was also a member of the Hawkins Freewill Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billie Leon Turner, Fred Byron Turner, and Roy Dean Turner.

Merwin is survived by his wife, Beth Turner; grandson, Blake Shurbet; brothers, Jack Turner, Lloyd Turner, and Kenneth Turner; sisters, Rosa Williams and husband JR, Barbara Frazier and husband Phillip, Thelma Hibler and husband Jamie; stepmother, Pearl Turner; and kids, Brent Shurbet and wife Derrelyn, Bridget Stephens, Bryan Shurbet, Brandy Glass; grandkids, Sean Glass and wife Morgan, Chasiti Hyatt and husband Justin, Kaylee Glass, Wyatt Shurbet, Skyler Shurbet, Reagan Shurbet; 3 great-grandkids, Elijah, Lillie, and Remington Hyatt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
