OBITUARIES

Mary Adrice Cole

Mary Adrice Cole was born to John and Patsy Sue (Jackson) McCormick on November 22, 1956. After a long stay at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City due to a longtime medical issue, she had recently transferred to Physicians Hospital of Anadarko, where she passed away Friday, August 20, 2021. No services are currently scheduled for Mary Adrice Cole, 64, of Verden.
She was raised by her relatives Oscar and Gracie McCormick of Allen Oklahoma.
Mary had a love and natural talent for horses and she began barrel racing and breaking horses when she was 16 years old. After graduating from Allen High School in 1974, Mary began training and working in the medical field as a CNA.
When she wasn’t working as a CNA, she enjoyed working as an independent short haul truck driver with the call sign “Half-Pint.” Days were long, but the long black ribbon made it short for the driving.
In the mid to late 70’s, while Mary was active in horse breaking and barrel racing, she met horse auctioneer/mechanic Roy L. Cole. Together they had 5 children, 4 girls and one boy.
Mary attended Cowboy Country Church in Chickasha and the Pentecostal Church of Mt. View with many friends. Until her death Mary served as a Trustee on the Town of Verden Board of Trustees.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents and husband along with other family members.
Survivors include her daughter Rebekah Johnston and husband Kenneth of Chickasha; son Daniel Blackburn and wife Amy of Moore; fiancé Mike Cool of Verden; numerous nephews and nieces and other extended family and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home
