Tractor Pull added to Grady County Fair

It will be Thunder in Tornado Alley when the Outlaw Truck and Tractor pull returns to the Rodeo Arena Saturday, August 28th, at the Grady County Fairgrounds.
Huge multi-engine tractors and high powered trucks will be one of the featured attractions at the Grady County Fair as the 2021 Outlaw Truck & Tractor Pulling Association returns after a 10 year absence.
Local Chickasha promoter Josh Runion is promising quite a show on Saturday with Pullers from all over the Midwest. Some of those will include the Yarick family from Rich Hill, MO and the famous Dirtslingin’ Deere which swept the pro stock class in Chickasha 4 years in a row.
The Pro stock point champion from 2020 comes from Nordhiem, TX and he is only 17 years old. Also, there will be Justin Gallion from Edmond on his Modified Tractor called Lotta Dirt and his newest 2wd truck Wild Side. In the 2wd class there are some of the toughest trucks in the world. Two of these trucks have won the biggest tractor pull in the US, the National Farm Machinery Show held each February in Louisville, KY.
“There will be 4 classes of top notch entertainment” said Runion. “Our show will open with a street stock 4×4 class in which local residents will have the chance to compete in an all-out run-what-you-brung battle for part of the almost $20,000 dollar purse up for grabs. Then we will feature the big multi-engine modified tractors, followed by the smoke rolling 10K pound pro stock tractors, and last but not least, the ground pounding super modified 2wd trucks”.
Runion promises there will also be some exhibition pulls that will be unlike anything ever seen in Chickasha.
The tractors you will see pulling in the OTTPA look nothing like the equipment they’re named after. These are monsters with rear tires taller than the average human being and engines that literally shake the ground when they’re cranked up during a pull.
Formed in 1982, the OTTPA is the largest of 3 sanctioned national pulling associations, endorsing over 70 sessions of pulling in over 50 cities from Texas to South Dakota. More than 500,000 fans with an average of 10k in attendance at each event come out to these special events. OTTPA has 16 classes and more than 350 competing vehicles – making it the best in truck and tractor pulling for fans, competitors, and promoters in the Midwest.
The show will have an open pit area where fans can come meet the drivers, take pictures, get autographs, and just look over the pulling vehicles up close and personal. This is totally free with the purchase of a ticket. For this show gates open at 4:30 show starts at 7. Tickets are 20 each kids 5 and under are free. Advance discounted tickets are available at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in Chickasha.
