Lieutenants Bobby and Crystal McFarland were recently appointed to lead the local Salvation Army Chapter that serves Grady and Caddo Counties. They assumed their position on June 27th and are looking forward to getting to know the community and continuing the ministry of The Salvation Army in this area.
The McFarland’s are enthusiastic and dynamic leaders and come to Chickasha from Evangeline Booth College in Atlanta, Georgia, where for the last two years they were in training to become officers in The Salvation Army.
Bobby is originally from Texas and Crystal from Oklahoma. They met in 2017 at Camp Heart O’ Hills, The Salvation Army’s campgrounds in Welling, Oklahoma. They were Commissioned (ordained) as Salvation Army Officers on June 6th, 2021. Together the couple has a wonderful ministry and they are passionate about the mission of The Salvation Army. They have a combined total of fourteen years in ministry. They have two children, Robert III, who is thirteen, and Emma, who is nine. In their spare time they like to read, watch movies, play board games, go for hikes, or explore.
“It has been exciting to meet the people of Grady & Caddo Counties and discover the opportunities for ministry here,” said Lt. Bobby. “We look forward to meeting the needs of these communities and ‘Doing The Most Good’ alongside the staff, volunteers, and supporters of The Salvation Army.”
The couple is responsible for all church programs and social services at The Salvation Army including, food boxes, utility assistance, emergency disaster services, and more. In addition to the social services provided in Chickasha, The Salvation Army will be expanding services soon to include a location in Anadarko.
“It has truly been wonderful to be back in a small family community! One thing we have learned is that not many people realize that The Salvation Army is a church,” said Lt. Crystal. “We invite everyone to join us for Worship each Sunday at 11:00 AM, at The Salvation Army, located at 2402 S. 16th St., here in Chickasha. We look forward to meeting you soon!”
