Billie Marie was born the daughter of William and Bernetta DeKinder on January 11, 1938, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She died on June 30, 2021, in Chickasha. Funeral service for Billie Marie Hayes, age 83, of Chickasha was held Friday, July 2, 2021, at the First Christian Church.
 Billie Marie graduated Chickasha High School in the Class of 1955 and was proud of being a Fightin’ Chick. After attending Oklahoma State University, she moved back to Chickasha where she lived the rest of her life.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bernetta DeKinder; son, William Kent Cavel; daughter, Jeanne Marie Cavel Smith; brother, Ben E. DeKinder; first husband, Bill Cavel; second husband, Robert W. Hayes.
 Survivors include grandson Kenton Smith; great grandson Tuff Smith; sister-in-law JoAnn DeKinder; niece Mary Hampton; niece JoLyn Clifton and husband Rex; numerous cousins.
 Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of McRay Funeral Home.
