The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a head on collision that took the lives of two Texas residents last Thursday, June 17 at approximately 7:42 pm.
The incident occurred on US 81 and half mile north of E 1790 Road, approximately 2/10th of mile south of Duncan.
A 2006 Mini Cooper driven by Kennedy L. Caldwell, age 20, of Denton, TX. was pronounced at the scene by first responders from massive injuries sustained in the collision. She was transported by Southern Plains Mortuary Services to The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office.
A passenger, Connor C. Slocum age 19, of Aubrey, TX. was also pronounced by first responders at the scene from massive injuries sustained in the collision. He was transported by Southern Plains Mortuary Services to The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office.
A 2002 Toyota Camry driven by Jerry W. Pardue age 74, of Duncan, OK. was transported by Air Evac to OU Medical Center and admitted in critical condition with head, trunk internal and trunk external injuries.
A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by John K. Salazar, age 50, of Waurika, OK. was transported by AMR to Duncan Regional Hospital. Then transferred by Air Evac to OU Medical Center and admitted in fair condition with head, leg and trunk internal injuries. He passed from injuries received in the accident on Tuesday, June 22nd according to an OHP update.
A juvenile, age 10, of Waurika, OK. was transported by AMR to Duncan Regional Hospital where he was treated and released with head and trunk internal injuries.
The 2006 Mini Cooper and the 2002 Toyota Camry were traveling northbound. The 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on US-81. The Mini Cooper attempted to pass the Toyota Camry striking the Chevrolet Silverado head on in the southbound lane and causing The Toyota Camry to strike Mini Cooper before departing the roadway to the left.
The incident is being investigated by Trooper Sheldon Glass #355 of the Stephens County detachment of Troop G. Assisted by Trooper Zachary Johnson #404, Trooper Rusty Russell #695, LT Larry King #137 of Troop G and Trooper Jason Riddle #944 with the Traffic Homicide Unit. Also assisted by Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Duncan Police Department, Comanche Police Department, Meridian Fire Department, Comanche Fire Department. Duncan Fire Department, AMR, Air Evac and Oklahoma Medical Examiner.
