The Chickasha Arts Center is booking Classes for Summer.


Carrie Chavers the owner of Chickasha Arts Center retired in January 2021, after 32 years as a public school Art teacher, with 22 of those years finishing up at Chickasha High School. She is an Acrylic landscape and portrait artist with a lot of experience in pet portraits and family portraits. Carrie has a BA in Art Education from USAO and a masters Degree in Gifted and Talented with Art Emphasis from OCU. She also has had continued training at the Chicago Arts Institute and  Kansas City Arts Institute.

Carrie opened The Chickasha Art Center in 2014 at 624 Chickasha Ave. after doing a year of painting workshops booked in local restaurants she needed her own place. Carrie and her husband Randy Chavers own the Auto Works Building and she set up in the front show room. Chickasha Arts Center offers kids classes all summer on Tuesday -Thursday from 3-5:30 for $20 an hour. You can come earlier if you call first.  They will be open for kids from July 5-16th, Monday-Friday from 9-12:00 for $35 a half-day. Chickasha Arts Center has tons of ceramics to glaze, throwing on the wheel lessons, hand building with clay, painting and drawing. They also book painting or ceramic parties for birthdays, wedding, baby showers and fundraisers. The Chickasha Arts Center tries to offer at least 1 night a month for the public to attend a Paint On Canvas Workshop where the picture is sketched for you and you just follow along and paint! Bringing your own beverages is allowed. The Arts Center has over 300 paintings to choose from and stencils to trace, they can also package it up into an “Art To Go Kit!”

Carrie has completed many murals, sign paintings and window paintings around Chickasha. Larger ones include the children’s area at Chickasha Public Library and outdoor areas at A&E in Chickasha.  Most recently the monkey mural at Jungle Ice Fun Zone and building labels for New Life Christisn Church. The Chickasha Art Center is open daily and you can almost always find Carrie there. Just call or text to arrange a group or to find out about opportunities for kids. Carrie is sometimes out painting on location, but if she there you are welcome to come in and make art!

Sean Brown, Art Teacher at Chickasha  High School and Art assistant Kaybri Lokey are also at the studio to assist clients.
