Cheryl Standridge


Graveside services for Cheryl Standridge, 71, of Oklahoma City, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Ninnekah Cemetery in Ninnekah, Oklahoma with Bruce Mercer officiating.

Cheryl Standridge was born April 19, 1949 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to George Wesley Alexander and Betty Lorene (Pelfrey) Alexander. She died October 10, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

During her elementary years, Cheryl was raised and attended school at Maysville, then the family moved to Pernell and she graduated from Pernell High School. She attended college in Norman for a time and worked at Griffin Memorial Hospital.

On October 24, 1969, she married Donald Jay Standridge in Schulter, Oklahoma and they had over 50 years of marriage and had their beautiful daughter, Sherrie.

As young people, they enjoyed going to the drive-in movies a lot.

Cheryl worked for Midwest City Regional Hospital for over 30 years and really enjoyed her job.

When she was younger, she liked to go fishing and enjoyed going to museums. She was family orientated and loved her family and especially liked doting on her granddaughter, Ashley. She also loved sightseeing and visiting family as she travelled.

She was preceded in death by both parents; in-laws J.M. and Pauline Standridge; brothers Carl Ray Alexander, Sr. and Tommy Alexander; sister Diann Surginer; sisters-in-law Debra Alexander and Shirley Alexander; and niece Catherine Alexander.

Survivors include her husband Donald Standridge; daughter and son-in-law Sherrie and Thomas Jones and granddaughter Ashley Standridge, all of Oklahoma City; step-grandchildren Thomas D. and Anna Jones of Erie, Colorado, Theresa and Daniel Sifuentes of Oklahoma City and Deborah and Wayne Gladden of Coldspring Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law Jimmy Alexander, Jerry and Debbie Alexander, Ronnie and Pam Alexander, all of Rockdale, Texas; sister-in-law Elaine Alexander; brother-in-law Clyde Surginer; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends at a visitation at Ferguson Funeral Home on Thursday, October 15th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
