Ross Lanier Lyon


Tuesday March 2, 1943 – Tuesday October 6, 2020

Anadarko: Ross Lanier Lyon, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 in Oklahoma City at the age of 77.

Cremation and arrangements under the care of the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. Services will be held at a later date to be posted.

Ross was born Tuesday, March 2, 1943 in Anadarko, to Coy Lanier and Zula Erline (Melencamp) Lyon. He grew up in Anadarko and graduated from Anadarko High School. Ross enlisted in the United States Navy after graduation. He served in the Vietnam War and retired after more than 20 years, being stationed in various places, Florida, West Virginia, and Mississippi. Ross married the love of his life, Marilyn Irene Roden, in Anadarko on October 7, 1967; they were married for 53 wonderful years before his passing. Ross and Marilyn returned to Anadarko making it their home and raising their 2 children, Ron and Rhonda there. Ross enjoyed working on lawn mowers and reading books. He liked cooking and collecting coins. Ross was a member of the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church in Anadarko.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Irene Lyon of the home, a son, Ronald Lanier Lyon and wife Jill of Rush Springs, a daughter, Rhonda Michelle Bryant and husband Marty of Anadarko, 6 grandchildren, Taylor Dawn Hollingsworth and husband Adam of Rush Springs, Logan Lanier Lyon of Marlow, Justin Dean Bryant and wife Jada of Anadarko, Darian Nicole Bryant of Anadarko, Brandon Ray Bryant of Anadarko, Lindsay Sharnel Bryant of Anadarko, 9 great-grandchildren, Britton Hollingsworth, Brinlee Bryant, Azariella Bryant, Zoey Bryant, Drayson Parton, Mia Bryant, Rosalee Bryant, Andrew Beaver, and Brayden Beaver. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Francis Gregory of Laughlin, NV, Lucy Langford of Sparks, NV, a brother-in-law, Ken Roden and companion Nancy Daniels of Oklahoma City, as well as 5 nieces and 4 nephews.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Leon and Ailene Roden, and a sister, Veneta Kay Lyon.
