Elks run past Chicks

 In a high scoring game, Elk City defeated Chickasha on the road 41 – 28.
 Junior Ronald Givens got the start at quarterback for the Fightin’ Chicks and led his team to an opening drive touchdown, with Sophomore Ma’Lek Murphy scoring on a rushing touchdown to go up 7 – 0.  
 Elk City would also strike on their first drive, tying the ballgame with 3:51 left in the 1st. Junior Tae’shon Richardson picked off the Elks in their end zone early in the 2nd Quarter, but the Chicks gave it right back just a few plays later on a fumble. The Elks scored a touchdown four plays later to go up 14 – 7 with 3:52 left in the 1st Half. The Chicks then drove down the field to tie the game at 14 – 14 to knot it up at Halftime.
 The points started to rack up in the 3rd quarter, as Junior Xavier Copeland-McFadden made an incredible grab for a touchdown with 6:19 left in the 3rd. The Elks scored in 3 plays the next possession, which once again tied up the game at 21 – 21. Elk City scored on their next drive to go ahead 28-21 early in the 4th quarter and then again on a 2 yrd touchdown run to push ahead 35 – 21. Elk City forced a 3 and out, just to score a couple of minutes later, to run ahead 41 – 21.
 The Chicks scored late to narrow the gap, then recovered the ensuing onside kick. Chickasha drove down the field, but came up short on 4th and goal from the 3-yard line. Final score Chickasha 28 , Elk City, 41.
 The Chicks have lost 3 in a row. They look to bounce back on the road at Cache, Thursday 10/15 @ 7:00p.m.
