12th Annual Rock Island Arts Festival Kicks off this Weekend

The Festival is a three day, free, fun and family oriented
event open to the public from 10am – 9pm on Friday
and Saturday, and noon – 4pm on Sunday.
All of the Arts Festival activities are centered on the
grounds around the beautiful and historic Rock Island
Train Depot and Mill Building on east Chickasha Avenue
in Chickasha, OK.
Throughout the Festival grounds, visitors will find
booths and tents featuring beautiful artwork, photography and specialty pieces
available for purchase.
This year the Children’s Activities will be located under a tent on the south lawn
and not in the Depot Building. There will be a variety of fun projects for children
to participate in as well as lots of pumpkins to paint.
Three stages will be set up to allow Festival attendees to enjoy live music as well
as other types of performances.
There will also be food vendors as well as a Wine and Beer Garden. The tasty
RIAF food fare, located near the caboose and depot building, will be available
throughout the length of the Festival.
Be sure to stop by the Chickasha Area Arts Council’s ‘Welcome Center’ located
at the entrance of the Depot grounds to pick up a RIAF brochure, meet a well
known community supporter, get updates on CAAC’s activities and see the selection of RIAF t-shirts available for purchase. Consignment items from the CAAC’s
Gift Shop will be available for purchase at the Festival. And, for the first time, a
silent auction will be taking place inside the Gift Shop. Visitors can place bids on
Rain Barrels and Wooden Spools, all designed and painted by CAAC members.
Winners will be notified at the end of the Festival.
Despite the impact the country has faced since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, Sue Getman, RIAF 2020 Director, along with Co-Directors Erin Thompson
and April Shipley Brenner, anticipate an outstanding Arts Festival.
The Rock Island Arts Festival Committee is very appreciative of all their supporters for their assistance with this year’s Festival.
For those who would like to support the activities of the CAAC and RIAF, donations may be mailed to CAAC, PO 505, Chickasha, OK 73023 or contact the RIAF
Director at director@rockislandartsfestival.org or 405-247-7547. Supporters may
also donate online at www.chickashaarts.or.
In conjunction with the Festival, two other events will be taking place this weekend. The 4th annual Rock Island Ride and the 3rd annual Oklahoma Food Truck
Championship Competition will take place on Sat., Oct. 3.
