New program helps elderly homeowners


 A new program designed to help elderly and impaired homeowners to keep their homes when deferred maintenance creates hazards got a $7,500 boost this month from First National Bank Trust Co.
 Led by Trinity Baptist Church and involving volunteers and churches from across Grady County, the project is called Affirming Community Through Service (ACTS).
 Pastor Billy Elkins (center right) worked with city and county officials to develop the effort, now entering its second year.
